Graham Peter Metson Art
Graham (Mex) was born in Chelmsford and has lived in Essex most of his life, particularly at Waltham Abbey where he had a studio. He previously lived, painted and studied in Edinburgh gaining a diploma, an Andrew Grant Award and a commended post graduate qualification in drawing, painting and printmaking from Edinburgh College of Art. Graham has also lived in London on two separate occasions, related to his work. He has exhibited once at the Royal Academy of Arts in London and on a number of occasions at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh as well as many other major venues and galleries. Graham has exhibited in two major art festivals, one in France and the other in Yokohama Japan, an International Prints Festival.
His work has been influenced by travels to Greece, Crete, Tunisia, Holland, France and Scotland and also by his studies of Egyptian, Mexican and British Art. Graham works from the life model and landscape direct, but many of his art works have a broader thematic approach being concerned with the energies of the planet, and its natural forces, more recently a series of paintings depicting athletes to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics. Some larger scale works have a universal concept leading to the invention of Universal Fragmentism which speaks for itself when viewed. A major set of large concept digital prints deal with cross cultural themes. He is also a well published poet in Great Britain and the United States of America and has been awarded the Silver Cup, two Silver Bowls and two bronze medals for his achievements in this field from the International Society of Poets.
Graham paints and lives in Chelmsford, Essex.
